‘Tis the season to be jolly! That’s right, it’s Christmas time again and if you’re spending it in Cape Town this year for the first time and not entirely sure what to do, we’ve got you covered! Below are some of the fun festivities you can take part in for a sunny Christmas in the Mother City.
STROLL DOWN ADDERLEY STREET FOR THE TWINKLING LIGHTS
For years now it’s been a tradition in Cape Town for locals and tourists to take in the glittering lights displayed along Adderley Street in the CBD. You can either walk or drive down the street to see the amazing lights, pictures and light displays. There’ll be a lot of oohs and aahs coming from your family mouths during this fun little outing!
MEET SANTA AND HIS HELPERS AT TABLE MOUNTAIN
On Christmas Eve or Day, gather up the kids and family and take a trip up Table Mountain to meet Santa Claus and his friends! They’ll be there to greet you at the Lower Station, and the kiddies can receive an activity booklet with clues for a treasure hunt on the mountain. Santa and his friends will also be offering face painting and glitter temporary tattoos to thrill and delight. The Table Mountain Cafe will also be serving a traditional Christmas Lunch on the day of.
HAVE A PICNIC AT KIRSTENBOSCH GARDENS OR BUFFET AT MOYO
If you would like to enjoy some time in the sun on Christmas day and be one with nature, you can opt for a picnic Christmas lunch in one of Cape Town’s most picturesque locations, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Enjoy lush green lawns amongst the trees and flowers, take walks when you please in between enjoying your picnic, be sure to bring your own though. Alternatively, Moyo is offering an exquisite Christmas Lunch buffet, with various delicious Christmas staples and other traditional South African cuisine on offer. It’s R550 for adults, R250 for children aged 5-11.
ENJOY LUNCH AND WINE AT TABLES NITIDA WINE FARM
You and the family will not be disappointed with this one! Expect world-class wine paired with incredible food at Tables at Nitida. The team have put together an incredible Christmas lunch menu that includes all the classics as well as unique Nitida creations by their culinary team. A three course Christmas menu will be available for R695 per person.
